It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Mary Elizabeth Syler, 76, of Mount Juliet, TN. A devoted wife, loving mother, cherished grandmother and great grandmother, loyal friend, and a woman whose kindness touched the lives of so many.
She is survived by her husband Bobby Syler of 53 years, son Richard Syler, Grandchildren Brittany (Brandon) Standridge, Lacy (Jacob) Jones, Austin Syler and Jaxon Syler; great grandchildren Callie Standridge, Chloe Standridge, Brennan Standridge, Corli Standridge, Kutter Jones, Dusty Jones. Siblings; Margaret Parks, Chester Bruce, Linda Thompson, Robert Lee Young and Brenda Walker.
Mary embraced life with an adventurous spirit and a joyful heart. She found peace on the water while fishing, loved spending time camping beneath the open sky, and never passed up the opportunity to go shopping or try a new restaurant. She had such great faith and attended Fellowship Baptist for many years, where she took pride in teaching the children in Sunday school class. Her favorite color was blue, a fitting reflection of the calm, warmth, and beauty she brought into the lives of those around her.
Above all else, Mary’s greatest joy was her family. She deeply loved her husband, her sons, her grandchildren and extended family. She treasured every moment spent with them and created a lifetime of memories that will continue to be shared for generations. Her love was unwavering, her encouragement endless, and her presence a source of comfort and strength.
Mary was preceded in death by her beloved son, Michael Syler, whom she carried in her heart every day. While their reunion brings comfort, Michael’s absence was a loss she felt deeply.
She was also preceded in death by her siblings: Louise Bradley, Buddy Randolph and Leonard Young.
A dedicated businesswoman, Mary proudly owned and operated Mary Syler Inc. She took great pride in her work, but what she valued most were the relationships she built with her clients. Over the years, they became much more than clients they became treasured friends.
Mary will be remembered for her generous heart, her love of family, her adventurous nature, and the countless lives she touched through both her personal and professional relationships. Though she will be deeply missed, her legacy of love, kindness, and friendship will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
Her memory will forever be cherished by her loving husband, her sons, her grandchildren and great grandchildren, her extended family and the many dear friends whose lives she enriched.
Gathering of family and friends will be held Thursday, August 6, 2026 from 4-8 pm at Hermitage Funeral Home and August 7, 2026, from 10:00am until 12:00 noon. Celebration of life to follow in the Tulip Grove Room at Hermitage Funeral Home. Burial following in the Hermitage Memorial Gardens.
