Mary Frances Waddell, 87, passed away on August 2, 2026. Born November 13, 1938, Mary Frances lived a life marked by steady devotion—to family, to work well done, and to the quiet responsibilities that build a lasting legacy.
Mary Frances graduated from Tennessee Tech University and moved to Nashville, TN, where she began her career as an accountant for the State of Tennessee. Through forty years of faithful service, she earned the respect that comes from consistency, integrity, and careful attention to the details that matter. She later retired after four decades of dedicated work.
After moving to Nashville, Mary Frances married Paul Waddell. They shared 45 years of marriage. They raised their daughter in Old Hickory Tennessee.
Mary Frances is survived by her daughter, Brandy Norton; grandsons, Stone Norton (Eliza) and Brown Norton; brothers, Carl Haggard, Eugene Haggard, Billy Haggard, Marlin Haggard, and Wayne Haggard; and sisters, Sue Vantrease and Patricia Cawood. She was preceded in death by her beloved Husband Paul Waddell; Parents Toy and Lena Haggard; brothers, Jimmy Haggard and Ernest L Haggard; Son in Law Cris Norton.
Visitation will be held at Hermitage Funeral Home, 535 Shute Ln, Old Hickory, TN 37138, on August 14, 2026, from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm, and again on August 15, 2026, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am. A Celebration of Life will follow at Hermitage Funeral Home on August 15, 2026, at 11:00 am. Interment to follow at Hermitage Memorial Gardens.
