MaryAnn Veronica Comm, 74, of Nashville, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on March 17, 2026, surrounded by her family. She was born on December 3, 1951, in Chicago, Illinois, to parents, John and Agnes Havrilla.
MaryAnn spent her early years in Chicago. After getting married and living briefly in Minneapolis, she moved to Nashville in 1988, where she would call home and spend the rest of her life.
MaryAnn was known for being one of the kindest and most caring people you would meet and was known as a mother to all. She cared deeply for her two sons, her family, her friends, and last but certainly not least, her cats. It was fitting that her career was in customer service, starting at Venture Stores in Chicago, and retiring with Gaylord Opryland and Marriott.
In her free time, MaryAnn loved crafting and gardening. Her garden could always be found with various beautiful flowers, as well as herbs and vegetables, and she loved making and collecting little knick-knacks of her favorite animals, cats, ducks, and black and white spotted cows.
MaryAnn is preceded in death by her parents, John and Agnes. She is survived by her children David (wife, Abby) and Nick; her siblings John (wife, Barbara), Mike (wife, Elaine), and Liz; as well as many beloved nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
There will be a Gathering of Family & Friends at the Hermitage Funeral Home on Tuesday, March 24 from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm. There will also be a time of visitation on Wednesday, March 25, at St. Stephens Catholic Community, 14544 Lebanon Road, Old Hickory, from 11:00 am - 12:00 pm. A Funeral Mass will follow at 12:00 pm at the church with Father Patrick Fitzsimons officiating. Following the mass, MaryAnn will be laid to rest in the Garden of Andrew at Hermitage Memorial Gardens, 535 Shute Lane, Old Hickory, TN.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared with the Comm family by selecting “Add a Memory” at the bottom of this page. In lieu of flowers, the family requests a donation in MaryAnn's memory to the Nashville Humane Association (give.nashvillehumane.org), to help support pets in need, whom MaryAnn so very much loved.
