Mike and I were friends in Nashville and served on the police department together. He was a good friend and I will miss him.

Mike was a fellow police officer and a good friend. We had lots of good times.  After we moved along to our own families, that closeness faded somewhat, but he was always my friend and I miss him.

Living in Florida, I am not able to keep  up to date on my friends in Nashville. One of those friends was Mike Mitchell, who I worked beside at the Metro Police Department beginning in 1967. We lived together a few apartments in Nashville and ran the streets together in our youth. He was a great friend and a great guy and I will never forget hime or Peg. Tommy Jacobs.

I believe that God puts certain people in our lives to take the place of something or someone we are missing. In my case I was never blessed to have a brother. That is until Mike came along a few years ago.He has blessed me in so many ways as I know he has others. The loss of a blood brother could not hurt any more than the loss of Mike.
Mike please remember the conversation we had Friday night and save me that seat in heaven.

I fondly remember going by to visit and chat with Mike when he was located at the Nolensville Rd. police station many years ago. I was always amazed at the strength of his dynamic personality and would leave from our conversations hoping that I would grow to have just a fraction of his great character. He was a true man to look up to and you always felt important in his presence. I'll always remember sitting across from his desk and listening to his stories and advice. Mike was a man with strong convictions in what he believed was the right way to live. He truly believed in the Golden Rule and treated everyone in a decent and professional manner. Like Glenn Koogler I fondly recall Mike from the West High football field in those ugly high top black cleats that we wore back then. It is truly hard to believe that he is gone. But, he left a legacy with the citizens of Nashville that lives on. I have equally fond memories of Libby as we attended Clemons and West High together. Very nice and sweet memories. Libby, my thoughts and prayers are with you.

I have so many fond memories of my cousin Mike. Growing up, Mike and Libby were the closest cousins my sister, Linda, and I had. Mike was the son my dad never had (and the brother I wished I could have had). I looked up to Mike because he was the good guy, he was the one who didn't say a bad word about anything or anybody.  Mike did the right thing, lived his life by example, and had his mother's sense of humor and laughter. I loved that about him.  My thoughts and prayers are with Peggy, Libby, and family.  I wish you peace that surpasses understanding.  I know Mike is in Heaven. I can see him with his mom, my Aunt Ruth, and my dad (his Uncle Jim). Oh, the stories they will tell. May you find comfort in these precious memories.

Mike was the consummate Police officer and good neighbor. His belief in the goodness of mankind and God were primary forces in his life. We'll miss you Mike and congratulations on your new eternal assignment!

I met Mike when we were teenagers and we spent a lot of time together back then. Later we became roommates for a while. Still later we joined the Metro Police Department together. Over fifty years of friendship is something I will treasure for the rest of my years. 
I believe there is another Marine guarding the streets of Heaven and waiting for the rest of us. So long for a while my friend.

Peggy, we are so very sorry that you lost your beloved Mike, but he will live on in your heart and memories. We pray he is now at peace and that your comfort is in knowing that he endures no more pain. Our deepest sympathy.

Uncle Mike was always ready to tell us stories every time we visited. He taught me a lot of Christian values at a very young age and I will carry them with me always, as he will always remain loved in our hearts. Aunt Peggy, we love you very much and you are a strong and beautiful soul!

I have know Mike and Libby since we were pre school. Ruth and J.T. were my some of my parents best friends since the days we lived at the housing development at Berry Field. Libby and I were playmates as kids, and Mike and I reconnected after collage. I had many great times with him, and his friends from MNPD. We last visited at the funeral of my mother in August 2009, and I am in complete shock at his passing. Words seem far too insignificant. I guess we never think about it being one of our lifelong friends.

He was full of laughter, loved his Lord, and set an example for many. To Libby and Peg, my prayers are with you. This is a great loss for all.

All of us who have known Mike and Peggy are saddened by this difficult loss.  We admire the values that made Mike special and extend our sincere sympathy to Peggy.

I had the privilege of working with Mike Mitchell as my first supervisor while working with MNPD, he was a great leader and understanding individual.  He later became a neighbor in Hermitage, he and Peggy always made you feel welcome in their home.  He certainly left us too young in life and he will be missed by all who knew him.

Mike was a good man who stayed true to his beliefs and stood up for what he believed in.  He weathered many a storm at MNPD and came through them all.  He always tried to do the right thing the right way.  You will be missed, Captain.

Mike was a man whose life was grounded in God's word. He loved the Lord and dedicated himself to serving him. He was well versed in the Bible and that was very evident in how he not only taught it, but also in the way he lived his life. He will be missed by all who knew him, but we can rest assured that he is now with the Lord and is no longer suffering. Now we all have one more reason to look forward with joy to the day that God calls us home as well. Peg, our prayers are with you and your family. We love you.

Captain Mitchell was a wonderful person to work for, he was understanding and kind.  I was sad to see him leave the police department.   It was a great comfort when he and Peggy showed up at Duane's father funeral.  He will be missed by all.

Mike and I went to high school together and played football on the 60 and 61 teams.  I remember Mike as one of those people who always gave 110% effort. I know his family and current friends will miss him greatly.

Some people come into our lives and we are touched, taught, loved and changed.....that is was Mike Mitchell did to us. Peggy, both of you have been an example of what "walking the walk and talking the talk" is all about!  Mike taught God's word with authority and never compromised. Thank you for sharing Mike; his example will always be with us.
