Patricia Renee Durham, 24, of Old Hickory passed away at home Sunday morning, November 6, 2016 after a long battle with ESRD. She was born April 21, 1992 in Hendersonville, TN to Renee and Michael Durham. She is survived by: mother Renee Durham; father Michael (Starr) Durham; grandparents Eddie and Pat Burton; fiancé Joey Phillips; sisters Adrienne (Shane) Davis, Christy (Rob) Aggen, Brittney Hyche and brother William (Chad) Durham; nieces Hailey, Audra, Brenya, and Marley; nephews Christopher, Coltyn, and Justin; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends whom Tricia loved deeply.
Patricia, or Tricia as she was called by family and friends, was an amazing young woman. Her spirit was bright and strong, and her wit was quick and sharp (like her tongue). She was sassy and spunky, and there was never a moment where you did not know what was on her mind. Tricia made no apologies for who she was—she lived her life exactly how she wanted, and she never asked for permission to be herself. Tricia knew who she was and what she was, and she dared anyone to have an opinion about her or her life. Her vibrant personality was reflected in her ever-changing hair color and her sparkly accessories and purses. Her battle with ESRD consumed her physical efforts over time, but her spirit never gave in or allowed her to give up. She ran around town with all the sass and fire of a warrior princess, and when she walked into a room, the light she brought with her was noticed by everyone.
Tricia adored her dogs, Tyson and Pips, and her fiancé—her Joe. Tricia loved Joey beyond comprehension, and he loved her even more. Their love was beautiful—they were two young people clinging to one another as they both fought physical battles and refused to let each other give up.
Tricia loved to pick on her siblings and to drive her parents crazy. She loved shocking her grandparents with her wild hair and make-up choices, and everyone in the family adored her never-ending offering of selfies and kissy faces.
No dog was safe from Tricia’s love—no pink or purple-colored purse was off limits. The purple-haired princess lived her life loving her family, friends, and pets while being a brilliant ray of sunshine on even the darkest of days.
Tricia was loved by many and will be missed immensely, but the family rejoices that she is finally at peace. The visitation is from 11am to 2pm Saturday, November 12, 2016 at Hermitage Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens. The Celebration of Life will follow at 2pm. The family asks that attendees wear purple and/or pink in honor of Tricia. Memorial contributions may be made in lieu of sending flowers.
