Peggy Yoshiye Oishi Pugh, age 78, of Mount Juliet, Tennessee passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 29, 2025, surrounded by the warmth of love and family. She was born on July 23, 1947, in Santa Maria, California to parents, Masasuke and Mary Oishi.
After graduating from Santa Maria High School, she met the love of her life, Vernon Pugh, Jr., on a dance floor (imagine that) in California, who at the time, was serving in the United States Air Force. The inception of their life together started with a cross-country trek in a '52 Chevy two-door Deluxe from her home state of California to the small town of California, Maryland. Vernon always joked that he kept his promise to take her back to California.
Peggy's spunky and vibrant personality attracted some great lifelong friendships, including her V.B.F.I.T.W.W.W. Debbie. As an amazing and nurturing stay-at-home mother through most of her two children's young lives, she decided to venture into the workforce as an Optician, later working at Patuxent River Naval Base, to finally work and retire from the local Thompson's Furniture store. After the passing of her beloved husband, she stayed in Maryland for five years until moving to Mount Juliet, Tennessee in 2019 to be closer to her children and grandchildren. Her love of music and dancing was surpassed only by the love for her family, children, and grandchildren. Her infectious smile, love of life and laughter was contagious to anyone that crossed her path.
Peggy was preceded in death by her parents and loving husband of forty-seven years, Vernon Pugh, Jr. She is survived by her brothers Myron (Keiko), Paul (Jane), John (Sabine) and Stanley Oishi; two children, Darren and Jason (Tassie) Pugh; and four grandchildren Aspen, Christopher, Abbigail and Camden.
Peggy's constant support of her children, grandchildren, family, friends and her selfless desire to donate to multiple charities made her even more special and endearing. In lieu of flowers, Peggy strongly encouraged, before her passing, for all to donate to a local charity or one of her favorites, Disabled American Veterans (DAV).
