Reba ELLEN (Nelson) Salimbene

Reba Ellen (Nelson) Salimbene Old Hickory, TN age 80, died peacefully while surrounded by family at her home in Old Hickory,TN, Sunday morning, August 2, 2015, following a protracted illness.Reba was born August 5, 1934 to James Chalmer Nelson and Audie Kirklin Nelson in Allons, TN, where she grew up, before moving to Donelson, TN, in her youth and graduating from the old Howard School in Nashville. Reba met Robert Salimbene, a Boston native and Fort Campbell soldier, on a blind date in 1955. The two were married three months later and remained so until Robert's death in 2001, living for a time in Augsberg, Germany, Boston, MA, and Donelson, TN, before moving to Old Hickory. Reba loved art, music, good food, travel, time with family and life, in general. Besides her parents and husband, Reba is preceded in death by her brothers Morris (Stella) Nelson and Paul Nelson.She is survived by her children, Robert (Christine) Salimbene, and Karen (Kevin) Brummett; grandchildren, Michael (Stephanie) Salimbene, Caitlin (Dan) Jones, and Christian (Rowan) Brummett; great-grandchildren, Kyla & Faeryn Salimbene, Avonlea and (any day now) Kirklin Jones; nieces, Jane (Jimmy) Bradley and Dana (Bobby) Mullins; sister-in-law, Charlotte Lawton and her children and grandchildren, as well as numerous cousins, great-nephews, and their children.Visitation will be 6 - 7 p.m. Tuesday, August 4, and from 2 - 3 p.m. Wednesday, August 5, at Hermitage Memorial Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held at the same location Wednesday, August 5, at 3 p.m. with burial following in Hermitage Memorial Gardens.
