

Richard L. Semple, 82, of Hermitage, passed away Saturday, June 6, 2015 at Alive Hospice in Nashville. He was the husband of 50 years of the late Patrica A. Semple. He was the son of the late Charles N. and Sarah C. (Horan) Semple.
Richard was born on July 28, 1932 in the village of Onset, Town of Wareham, County of Plymouth, MA at home. He graduated from Wareham High School and Bentley College. His first 20 years were spent in Massachusetts and served 27 years in the Navy (U.S.S Worchester) and US Air Force. After retiring from the military he then spent 20 years in Government Civil service work. He traveled from Onset to Hawaii, Yokosuka, Okinawa, Tokoyo, Hong Kong, Manila, Taipei, Italy, and France while in the Navy, then on to Providence, RI, Panama City, FL, Ankara Turkey, Del Rio, TX, Wichita, KS, Hof, Germany, Riverside, CA, Bitburg, Germany, retiring from the U.S. Air Force in Denver, CO, then to Thousand Oaks, CA and retiring from Civil service at Arnold AFB/AEDC in Decherd, TN and finally to Hermitage, TN. His working career was spent in accounting, auditing, and finance.
Richard loved the beach, sports, painting, camping, bowling, traveling and spending time with family and friends. He coached little league baseball, was active with the VFW and Knights of Columbus. This gentle man lived his life with these principles "Always treat others the way you want to be treated, learn to achieve the best life has to offer and enjoy the blessings that are around you."
Richard is survived by his brother Francis "Frank" Semple and daughters Teresa "Terri" (Tim) Malone of Hermitage, TN, Anita (Craig) Dean of Monroe, LA and Lisa (Mark) Hassel of Thornton, CO; grandchildren, Adam (Miranda) Malone, Brandy (Tim) Armstrong, Courtney Dean, Jennifer and Stephanie Hassel; great-grandchildren, Ashlynn, Kaylei and Isabella Malone, Kaitlyn Armstrong; several nephews and nieces.
The visitation will be 10:00am-12:00pm, service 12:00pm-1:00pm at Hermitage Funeral Home and graveside service with full military honors at 2:00pm at Nashville National Cemetery on Friday, June 19.
