I met Rick when we were adult students at Cumberland University. We had several classes together, worked on projects together and spent time talking on the phone from time to time. He was a good man...very upbeat and respectful. We touched based again this summer just to say hi and to talk about the pandemic. Lol. I will miss him so much! Praying for Rick's family during this difficult season.

I remember meeting Rick for the first time on Christmas Eve up here in "We da North" Country.
We celebrated Christmas Eve McDonnell-style, loud and crazy. Steady and kind with an easy smile, he had a voice soft like an angel. He impressed me as a man of gentle spirit and grace. Sharon, my heart truly breaks for you and for Rick's family. Love you much - Linda

Sending these few words from Canada as my heart breaks for Sharon. We were introduced by our Scottish moms when we were both just a year old. Since that day we have been like family. It was such a joy to witness her happiness over the last several years with Rick. I had an unforgettable trip to their place some time ago. Rick made me feel so at home with true Southern hospitality. He whipped up delicious corn bread while sharing his extensive knowledge about the civil war. I so wish I could hop on a plane and come down to offer my support. Sadly, that's not possible during this horrendous pandemic. I can only send my heartfelt condolences to Sharon and of course, to the rest of Rick's family. xo

Rick is the definition of a "Gentleman and a Scholar". I have told many that he was just the type of person I like to spend time with, extremely intelligent with just the right amount of odd. If you know Rick you know exactly what I mean. He helped make work fun and interesting. His culinary creations were always top notch. He would often share his snacks and allow me to try new things. I am extremely grateful that this year I got to spend some time in the woods with him "hunting the bird". I am thankful for the time I got to spend with Rick and will remember him always.

Rick welcomed me with open arms at Nissan. I only had the opportunity to meet him for a short time, but his energy and upbeat attitude was infectious and put me at ease while I started my position at a new company with new faces.

I'm saddened by the loss. We had joked about finally being able to compete at the chili cook off together and compare our extensive list of ingredients. Thanks to him, I've added some dark beer in mine and will continue to do so in remembrance.

Rick was a teammate on a cost reduction engineering team at Nissan for which I was a leader for about 4 years.
Rick was a very kind and considerate man. He was very sensitive to everyone's feelings.
Rick wanted to always do a good job, and was a good communicator with good evaluation skills.
Prayers go out Rick's family and friends at this time.
