Sharon Rebecca Follis, 77, of Hermitage, Tennessee, entered her eternal rest on September 1, 2026. Born on August 6, 1949, Sharon grew up in Nashville, Tennessee, and graduated from Glencliff High School.
Sharon was, in every sense, beloved and deeply cherished—someone whose steady devotion showed most clearly in the way she loved her family and showed up for them. She adored her husband, Gary, of nearly fifty years and loved him immensely. Their marriage set the example for both of their sons and everyone who knew them. Her loyalty to family and friends ran deep, as she never missed her boys’ ballgames or her grandchildren’s special moments, always there to cheer them on and provide humor when it was needed. If you were the recipient of her sarcasm, then you knew you were part of her circle.
A true sports enthusiast, Sharon’s life held the rhythm of seasons and schedules, ballparks and bleachers. She loved sports so much—and spent so much time at the ballparks when her boys were involved—that Gary and Sharon bought and established Donelson Trophy House, which they ran successfully for over twenty years. If you asked her what, after God and family, is her true love, she would unabashedly answer: Tennessee Vols and Atlanta Braves.
Her favorite travel destination was a sandy beach with the ocean sweeping over her feet. At home, she could be found piecing together the latest jigsaw puzzle or getting ready to watch whatever sport was in season.
Sharon was a longtime member of Mount Juliet First Baptist Church and cherished her mornings with the Sunday School Group. Her faith in God continued to grow throughout her life, as it was shown through her actions and words. She enjoyed weekend trips and grabbing lunch with friends—some of these friendships going back to high school, games of Bunco, and the easy laughter that comes from life experiences.
Sharon was preceded in death by her loving husband of 49 years, Gary Lee Follis; her father, Kenneth E. Ellis; her mother, Rebecca Ellis; and her sister, JoAnn Boyd. She is survived by her sons, Chad Follis (Darby) and Cory Follis (Diane); her grandchildren, Grayson Follis, Griffin Follis, Landon Follis, Lawson Follis, and Lane Follis; her niece, Kim Cox (Lyman) and children Savannah and Jordan.
There will be a Gathering of Family & Friends on Saturday, September 5, 2026, from 9:30 am to 10:30 am. A Celebration of Sharon’s Life will follow at 10:30 am in the Tulip Grove Chapel at the funeral home. Chad Follis, Cory Follis, Griffin Follis, Landon Follis, Lawson Follis, and Lane Follis will serve as Pallbearers. Following the service, Sharon will be laid to rest next to her husband in the Garden of Memories Mausoleum at Hermitage Memorial Gardens.
