Shirley will be remembered as a kind, generous, fun-loving, welcoming person. She was also fiercely strong and independent. She worked in the insurance industry for many years before retirement. In her free time, she enjoyed spending time with her family, friends, traveling, crystals, painting, and other arts.
She is survived by her daughters Angela (Steve) Hiland and Cindy (Chuck) Edmonds; grandchildren Russell Osborne, Sophie Osborne, Ellen Osborne and Michael Phelps; great grandson David Brooks Osborne; brothers James Russsell Jones Jr., Calvin (Carol) Jones and Timmy Jones, best friends Peggy Rogers, Sherry Wheeler, Rita De Grella, and Ewing Farley; niece Ashley (Billy) Sickles and nephews Brendan (Kylene) Jones, Josh (Donna) Jones, Matthew (Meri) Jones. She also leaves behind many cousins and extended family.
Shirley is preceded in death by her parents James Russell Jones and Ida Evelyn Jones of Old Hickory.
Gathering of family and friends Sunday, August 30, 2026, from 1:00-4:00pm at Hermitage Funeral Home. Celebration of Life will begin at 4:00pm in the Tulip Grove Room also at Hermitage Funeral Home.
