From an early age, Terry had an inherited love of all things automotive and mechanical. He found a way to take his childhood love of building model cars, later to things like slot cars and RC cars into a lifelong love of working with classic cars and race cars including spending his Saturday nights helping his best friend, Richard Hargrove, at Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway. He continued painting local Legends cars and Bandoleros and working with Cory Jones and Bobby Dixon at Loose Cannon Racing. Terry had a lifetime career working and managing local dealer service departments and collision centers where he made many lifelong friendships and customers.
Terry was a wonderful husband, father, Poppa, and friend to many. He prided himself on always being someone you could go to in a time of need. He never met a stranger and could talk to anyone in almost any situation. He loved spending his free time working at his house on his tractor, riding his motorcycles, or taking his grandkids out on his ATV. His grandchildren were the joy of his life.
Terry was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents William and Nancy Gooch Chapman and maternal grandparents Roy and Jewel Smith; father George Chapman and stepmother Erlene Chapman. He is survived by his loving wife of 44 years Tammy Chapman; sons Collin (Alanna) Chapman and Stephen “Cory” Chapman; grandchildren Lily Jane Chapman and Graham Chapman; mother Christine (Jerry) Needham; sister Cheryl (Doug) Delveau; aunt Mary Jane Bowen; uncle John Larkin; sisters-in-law Connie (Bill “Smitty”) Smith, Cheryl (Joe) Edwards, Vickie Hays, also many cousins, nieces and nephews.
