Thomas Coyle Heffernan Jr., born on October 17, 1944, passed away on November 16, 2025, after a long battle with heart disease at the age of 81. A resident of Hermitage, Tennessee, Thomas was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
Tom is preceded in death by his sister Mary Glenn Gibbs and parents Thomas Coyle Heffernan, Sr. and Glenda Hudson Heffernan Pierson.
He is survived by his loving wife of almost 55 years, Mary Heffernan; children Thomas Coyle Heffernan, III (Michelle); and Anitra Funger (Kenneth); grandchildren Azha Kratzer (Kendra), Damian Anter II, Jestie Rueda (Dru) and Conner Kelly and great-grandsons Xander Kratzer and Kaison Rueda.
Tom had a passion for fishing smallmouth bass, often enjoying time on his bass boat, "Proud Mary." He was an avid fan of Titans football, and he had a keen interest in data processing and computers. He also enjoyed relaxing with a cocktail.
A visitation will be held at Hermitage Funeral Home, located at 535 Shute Ln, Old Hickory, TN 37138, on November 20, 2025, from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm. Following the visitation, a Graveside Service will take place at 2:00 pm at the same location. The Reverend John Sims Baker will conduct the graveside service.
