W. Howard Stamps, 93, of Murfreesboro, TN, passed away on November 19, 2021. A native a Nashville, he owned the Stamps Drug Company in Old Hickory Village until his retirement. Known affectionately as "Dr. Stamps" to his friends and customers, he will be remembered for his cheerful nature and his kind heart. A devout Christian, he spent his life modeling a behavior in both his business and personal life that is as rare as it is beautiful. His compassion and gentleness will serve as an inspiration, and he will be remembered by all who knew him as a truly good man.
The great singular love of his life was his wife of 66 years, Mary Emma Spear Stamps, who he credited for any success that he experienced. Until her passing in 2018, he spent every day making sure she was safe, comfortable, and well-provided. The depth of his love for Mary was only matched by his love for his two daughters, his grandchildren, and his great-granddaughter.
He is survived by his two daughters; Lisa (David) Foster and Rebecca Stamps (Christy Osborne); three grandchildren, Nathan (JaiLynn) Foster, Emma Foster, and Ian Osborne-Stamps; and one great-granddaughter, Irisa Jane Foster.
The family would like to say thank you to the folks at Amedisys and to the other caregivers and -responders who treated Howard with such loving care and respect during his life and in his final days. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Rutherford County Meals-On-Wheels program (http://www.mchra.com/donate).
