William “Bill” Catron, 96, passed away on June 22,1921, 11 days after his wife (Alice Catron) passed. Bill was born in Kansas and was raised in Mauckport, IN. He served as a Sergeant in the USMC (2nd Division) during WWII and saw action in the Pacific theatre (Saipan). He was an expert in radar and set up and operated radar equipment and worked on developing radar guided anti-aircraft artillery. After the War, Bill finished his degree in EE from Purdue and wound up in the optical engineering and manufacturing business for much of his professional career, holding over a dozen patents. In his last 15 years of professional life, he worked in the Engineering Department at Washington University in STL. Bill was an avid gardener and trained chef. He was the father of 5 children, grandfather of 7, and great grandfather of 3. Please consider making donation to a hospice organization in your home town.
