

He was born November 8, 1947 in Lubbock, TX and graduated from Monterey High School in 1966. He attended Texas Tech University and graduated from Abilene Christian University in 1971. Hunter served in the Air Force from 1970-1976 and then worked on the family cotton farm in Meadow, Texas. In 1978, he graduated from Southwestern Oklahoma State University with a degree in Pharmacy. Hunter returned to Lubbock and worked at Texas Tech University Pharmacy until 1987 when he relocated the family to Old Hickory, TN and worked as a Pharmacist at Vanderbilt for over a decade. Hunter established Roman Compounding Pharmacy in Goodlettsville in 2002 and sold it and retired in 2015. He was a member of Donelson Church of Christ, a board member of the Wild West History Association, an active member of Cedar Creek Yacht Club and committee member for Church by the Lake. He was a true American patriot, avid music lover, active in bible study groups, and a mentor to numerous pharmaceutical students.
Hunter is preceded in death by his parents WM Jr. and Peggy Hunter, father and mother-in-law Fred and Daisye Ramsay.
He is survived by his wife of nearly 50 years Sara Ramsay Hunter, son William Mason Hunter IV (Danielle) of Old Hickory, daughter Sara Beth Pegg (Zach) of Gallatin, seven grandchildren Ava, Jill, and William Hunter, Silas, Daisye, June, and Nora Pegg, and sister Linda Hunter of Hot Springs, AR.
Visitation starting at 11am at Hermitage Memorial Gardens, 535 Shute Lane, Old Hickory on Friday, July 2nd followed by a 2pm graveside service.
A celebration of life will be held on July 22nd at 3 pm at Church by the Lake, Cedar Creek Yacht Club in Mt. Juliet TN.
