

DONNELL, Wm. Kenneth, “Ken”, Sr., age 73 of Old Hickory, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, November 3. He was born on August 6, 1939 and was the only child of the late Reverend William and Irene Donnell of Mount Juliet. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Faye Hamblen Donnell; daughter, Lynn (David) Turner, Mount Juliet; son, Ken Donnell and granddaughters Kristen Kay and Kayla Faye Donnell, all of Lebanon. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Old Hickory, for over 50 years and retired from DuPont after 34 years of service. Kenneth grew up in Mount Juliet where he was a basketball standout at Mount Juliet High School in 1955-57. He set the NIL single season scoring record of 749 points that stood for 12 years. He still holds the school record for most points scored while playing at the school. He became an accomplished golfer and was an avid sports fan throughout his life. Visitation and services will be at Hermitage Funeral Home. Visitation will be Monday, November 5, from 4:00-8:00 p.m. and Tuesday, November 6, from 11:00 a.m. until services at 1:00 p.m., which will be conducted by Reverend Billie Friel. Entombment will follow in Hermitage Mausoleum. Pallbearers are Bob Jernigan, Jerry Mires, Dr. Nelson Wilson, Bob Redden, Charles Hamblen and John Langford. Honorary pallbearers are Billy Donnell, Jimmy Stamps, Dr. Marion Wilson, Dr. Paul Daugherty and Dale Woods.
