Altabelle Pflomm, 90, widow of Wilbur Pflomm, passed away on June 22, 2022 at Bride Brook Health & Rehabilitation Center. Altabelle was born on March 27, 1932 in West Hartford, CT, to the late Norris and Mildred Cooke Bull. She moved to Hawks Nest Beach in Old Lyme when she was young, where she survived the Hurricane of 1938 with her family.
She attended the Oakwood School in Poughkeepsie, NY and graduated from Old Lyme High School in 1950. Altabelle was a lifelong resident of Old Lyme. She married Wilbur Pflomm in 1950, and they made their home first on Blood Street and, later, on Ledgewood Drive. She was a devoted wife and mother. In addition to raising their children, she was a talented artist and also enjoyed gardening and reading.
She is survived by three children: Kathryn Fisher and her husband Keith, Deidra Jones Pflomm and Alexander C. Pflomm. Additionally, she is survived by several special nieces and nephews. She was also predeceased by two older brothers, Norris Jr. and Lewis Bull, as well as two older sisters, Janet Littlefield and Theodate Lockhart.
Altabelle's family would like to express their gratitude to the Bride Brook staff for their attentive care over the past four years.
A memorial Service will be held on at a date to be announced in the Fulton-Theroux Funeral Home, 13 Beckwith Ln., Old Lyme. Burial will follow in Duck River Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to either the Old Lyme Phoebe Griffin Noyes Library or the Lymes' Senior Center.
