Born on October 7, 1940, in Chicago, to Paul and Marion Barrick, and grew up in Phoenix, AZ along with her brother Peter. Barbara was a beacon of kindness and strength throughout her life. After graduating from Purdue University with her master’s degree, she worked at Electric Boat and The Hartford Insurance Group.
She married the love of her life, James McKie, in 1965 and together they shared 60 years of love, adventure and laughter. She was a devoted mother to her son, Darrin.
Barbara was known for her resilience and her love of fabric arts, spending hours creating award-winning art quilts and tapestries. She was world renowned in the quilting community, being featured in multiple magazines and had her quilts presented in several museums and showcases. Barbara will be remembered for her love of chocolate, travel and photography.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
