Bertram S. Dean

Old Lyme- Bertram ‘Bert” Dean, 89, of Old Lyme, passed away at home on January 28, 2019. Mr. Dean was the son of Searles Dean Sr. and Martha (Swaney) Dean. He was a lifelong resident of Old Lyme and for over 70 years served as a member of the Old Lyme Fire Department. For many years he was self-employed as an excavating contractor and was a skilled heavy equipment operator and mechanic.

Bert is survived by his brothers Alan Dean of Durham, Marshall Dean of Old Lyme, Robert Dean of East Haddam as well as two sisters Edith Pelletren of Centerbrook and Martha Wilde of Camdenton, MO. Many Nieces and Nephews. He was predeceased by his wife Caroline, his brothers Searles Dean Jr., Charles Dean and his half-brother Walter Dean. Donations may be made in Bert’s memory to the Old Lyme Fire Department.

Calling Hours will be held on Saturday, February 2, 2019 at 12:00pm in Fulton-Theroux Funeral Home, 13 Beckwith Ln., Old Lyme forming a procession to the First Congregational Church of Old Lyme for a 2:00pm Service.
