Daniel Ross Jones

Following graduation from Old Lyme High School in 1966, Dan began employment as an electronics technician at Pratt & Whitney, Middletown, CT before joining the Air Force from 1967 to 1971. After honorably serving during the Vietnam war, Dan returned to Pratt & Whitney with his career spanning over fifty years. A steadfast union member with the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers, Dan served on numerous Negotiation Committees prior to his election as President of the IAM Local Lodge 700 in Middletown from 2001 to 2004.

As Past President of the Essex Veterans Memorial Hall (EVMH), Member of the VFW Post 6726 and the American Legion Post 18 in Essex, CT, Dan valued participating in various community service events. Dan also enjoyed volunteering as the Director of Security for the Connecticut Raft Race during the 1980’s and 1990’s.

During recent years as owner of M&E Green Acres, LLC, Dan got a kick out of watching Flower Hour Farm develop as a micro cut flower farm on his property at 10 Old Post Road, Old Lyme,

CT, which legacy continues operating today.

A dedicated father, caring neighbor and valuable friend, Dan is predeceased by his parents, Moss and Eva, and survived by his son, Daniel M. Jones (Old Lyme, CT) and cousins, Paul (Terry) Chapman of West Dummerston, VT and Walter (Beth) Chapman of Juneau, AK.

Following a private burial service, please join in celebrating Dan’s life on June 20, 2026, 12:00 pm at the EVMH, 3 Westbrook Road, Centerbrook, CT. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to
