

Fortunato "Frank" Cocco, 87, of Old Lyme, passed away at home on October 22,2021. He was surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Anne (DeMatteo) Cocco, to whom he was married for 65 years. Fortunato was the son of the late Ralph and Louise (DellaSalla) Cocco. He was born in North Haven on February 7, 1934. He was predeceased by his sister Emily Ferrucci and his son Frank.
Fortunato was a graduate of Wilbur Cross High School in New Haven. He worked at the Winchester Firearm company before enlisting in the US Army in 1953 after graduation. He served during the Korean War before being honorably discharged in 1956. He married his high school sweetheart in that same year. He later worked at United Nuclear Corporation for 25 years. Fortunato loved sports, especially football and baseball. He was a lifelong Giants and Yankees fan. Fortunato also loved working in the yard and nurturing his flower beds. Over the years, he loved working on military model ships and planes and woodworking hobbies.
Fortunato spoke fondly of the strong bond he had with his family. Sundays, especially, were set aside for his family to visit and have dinner,watch sports,and play with his great grandchildren in the yard. He will be dearly missed by all.
Fortunato is survived by his wife Anne, his children Rose Anne Rand of Lyme, Ralph Cocco of Port Orange, FL and Susan Cocco of Norwich. He is also survived by four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Viewing will be Thursday October 28th from 10:00 -1130 am at the Fulton-Theroux Funeral Home 13 Beckwith Ln Old Lyme, CT. Service at 11:30. Interment will follow at the State Veterans Cemetery in Middletown.
