

Mr. Herman was born on July 22, 1926 in Nanticoke, PA to Henry Herman and Gwendolyn Rees. He retired after being a long-time employee of the Federal Paper Board Co. Inc., serving in various management capacities at the Sprague, Versailles, and New Haven paper mills. Mr. Herman was an active member of the Technical Association of the Pulp and Paper Industry (TAPPI), the Coating Task Force Committee of the Pulp and Paper Industry Management Association (PIMA), the Operating Board of the Boxboard Research and Development Association (BRDA), the Exchange Club of Old Saybrook and Westbrook, the United Church of Chester, and the Nanticoke, PA Lodge #541 of the Free and Accepted Masons.
Mr. Herman is predeceased by his wife Marion E. Herman and daughter-in-law Barbara W. Herman. He is survived by his beloved companion Betty Cruckshank; daughter Joanne A. Herman and her spouse Theresa Fallon of Natick, MA; son Glenn P. Herman and his wife Linda D. Herman of Ivoryton, as well as grandchildren Melanie Jule Herman and her fiancé Andrew D. Johnston, and Matthew Rhys Herman.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 22, 2014 at 11:00am in the United Church of Chester. Internment (for immediate family only) will follow in the Memorial Garden at the First Church of Christ in Old Saybrook. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First Church of Christ in Old Saybrook, Congregational, in care of the Memorial Garden Fund. Fulton-Theroux Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
