

Howard Joseph Beers, 88, of Lyme CT, passed away March 19th 2024 after a long illness. He is predeceased by his wife of over sixty years, Charlotte Ellison Beers. Howard Beers is survived by his three children: Nancy Beers and her son Sam Marshall; Gerry Beers and his loving wife Cynthia Beers, who's unwavering support of Howard in his final years was invaluable,and their daughters Kirstin Kelly and Samantha Beers; James Beers and his love Shelley Bailey; and his beloved Great Grand daughters Sawyer Kelley and Hazel Beers.
Howard was born on July 6th 1935 to Howard N. Beers and Mary S. Beers. He grew up in Cromwell CT, and spent many happy days hunting and fishing with his Dad and Uncle Bob. Howard graduated from Cromwell High School, served in the U.S. Navy from 1953 – 1955, and earned an Associate’s Degree in Business from Hillyer College.
Howard and Charlotte were married in 1957 and moved to Lyme CT in 1965, building a new home for themselves which they moved to in February 1968. Howard’s early work career was as a salesman for the phone company, Star Expansion, the then Stanley Tools. Yet it was as a Charter Boat Captain that he was best known. For nearly 30 seasons, until his retirement in 1998, he was at the helm of the Nancy B. He enjoyed fishing and hunting with family and friends, and turned out many wonderful projects in his basement workshop, including many fine pieces of furniture that will be treasured for years to come.
