It is with a heavy heart that the children of Howard and Nancy Brundage announce the passing of their beloved mother - Nancy Williams Brundage, age 87, of Lyme, Ct on April 12, 2011. Nancy was a wonderful mother and devoted loving wife. She was born in 1923 and grew up in Montclair, New Jersey, the daughter of Geraldine and Charles Williams. She was a graduate of Wheaton College, active in the Mounted Troop, local hospital and Junior League and married Howard Denton Brundage in 1945. Howard predeceased her in 1997.
Nancy and Howard resided in Montclair, N.J. and Nantucket before moving to Lyme in 1977. They were active in and generously supported a variety of local organizations such as the First Congregational Church of Old Lyme, local libraries, charities, art associations and museums, some of which named facilities in tribute to their generosity.
Nancy is survived by her brother Edwin McB. Williams, of Naples, Florida as well as her son, Peter Brundage, of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, and three daughters: Louise Lynch and her husband, Chuck, of Lyme, Joanne Wilcox and her husband, Hod, of Madison, and Geraldine Nolin and her husband, Rick, of Old Saybrook. She will also be missed by her six loving grandchildren: Carrie Lynch Monachelli, Darcy Lynch, Alexis Lynch, Kit Wilcox, Laramie Wilcox, and Britney Wilcox.
Just prior to her death Nancy resided at Peregrine’s Landing, in Clinton, CT. Peregrine’s Landing is a Memory Care facility; the family wishes to thank the staff for their competence and compassionate care of Nancy and to extend our deepest appreciation to the many caregivers who took care of Mom so that she was able to live at home for as long as possible.
There will be a service at the First Congregational Church of Old Lyme on Tuesday April 19 at 2:00 pm to celebrate Nancy’s life. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to The Alzheimer’s Foundation at www.alzfdn.org or 322 8th Ave, 7th Floor, New York, NY 10001.
