Richard George Gauthier

Dick was born on April 15, 1943 in Westerly, RI, the son of George and Rose Gauthier. He received his master's degree from the University of Rhode Island. He was employed for many years at Electric Boat and A&T as a civil engineer. Most recently he owned and operated RGG Enterprises, working as a home improvement contractor. He was predeceased by his wife of 30 years, Maryann Gauthier in April 2007.

Dick was devoted to the Old Lyme community, serving as a Boy Scout leader with Troop 26 for many years. He was also a little league softball coach, then umpire and spent so much extra time caring for the field and grounds that it was re-named the Dick Gauthier Athletic Field. His hobbies included gardening, tennis, volleyball and square dancing. He was an avid fan of the Boston Red Sox and UCONN Huskies basketball.

Dick is survived by his son Eric Gauthier of Old Lyme, daughter Sara Gauthier of Derry, NH, sisters Valerie (Jack) Holliday of Westerly, RI and Diane (Jim) Gauthier of Warwick, RI.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, June 6, 2014 at 11:00am at the First Congregational Church of Old Lyme.
