He is predeceased by his first wife Virginia (Potter) Heap in Old Saybrook, and his second wife Lois (Burr-Thompson) Heap of Clinton whose four children he delighted in. He is survived by a sister seven years his senior, Pamela (Heap) Rich of Longmeadow Massachusetts and her surviving daughters, his nieces Cynthia (Rich) Wilson (Thomas) of East Longmeadow and Susan (Rich) Flynn of Killingworth Connecticut and many great nieces and nephews.
Roger maintained a passion throughout his life for cars, boats, and for flying and he had operational licenses for all types. His greatest joy though, was for life itself, for love and happiness. He reminded us often that “Happiness is a choice”, he thrives on gratitude, marveled at his good fortunes and he truly appreciated his family and many friends. He asked that we wish a “Happy Forever” to all and that we remember him that way.
Private arrangements will be at the convenience of the family. Remembrance donations may be made to the Lymes Senior Center 26 Townwoods Rd. Old Lyme, CT 06371 or Lyme Ambulance PO Box 911 Hadlyme, CT 06439

"Uncle Rog". Roger was always my favorite uncle. He was always such a positive person. Happy, grateful for his many blessings, a warm and caring soul, he loved people and befriended all. Roger lead a quiet, humble life because that is how he liked things--orderly, straightforward, and uncomplicated. He had a heart full of love and a certain wonderful joy for life which made him very special. He will be missed very much by all of his family.

I have very fond memories of visiting with Roger's parents when I was a small child. They were good friends with my grandmother Ora.
My parents were also very good friends with Roger. Here is a picture of him in my parent's wedding. Same smile :-)
Sorry we were never able to get together for one last chat.
RIP Roger! Say hello to my parents.
