

Alvaro Atienza Endaya, 81 of Westbrook, passed away peacefully at home on May 15, 2026. Alvaro was born on February 19, 1945 to Victoriano Endaya and Antonina Atienza Endaya in the town of Cuenca in the Philippines. He was the beloved husband of his late wife, Belita Brion Endaya. He received his Bachelor's of Science degree at Far Eastern University in Manila, Philippines and majored in accounting. He was employed at Cigna Insurance Co and the State of Connecticut.
Alvaro didn’t have much when he came to the United States, but was generous to those who were less fortunate. He petitioned his in laws to come to the United States so his children can grow up with family who wanted to come to the US. Alvaro had a kind heart for those who cared for his children. Family meant everything to him. Alvaro maintained a garden with his father in law that gave them both great joy having fresh vegetables for dinner in the summer.
He loved watching tennis, the Boston Celtics and the New England Patriots. He enjoyed fishing and traveling cross country, but most of all he enjoyed seeing family, especially spending time with his grandchildren. He looked forward to Holidays and special occasions so he can celebrated with those he loved.
Alvaro will be greatly missed by his children: Allan Endaya from Asheville, NC, Alma & Josh Murphy from Westbrook and Alleli & Mark Ferland from Macon, GA. In addition, his grandchildren: Tristen, Kane, Kreed, Ammeree and Trinity Endaya, Kali & Shaqwan Jones, Alyssa & Joshua Surles, Mark Paul Ferland and great granddaughters Isla and Raya. His siblings Fara Endaya, Pilar Dimaculangan, Vito Endaya and his wife Bernadita. He will also be missed by his cousins Ate Mading, Ate Tita, and Lucy who were like sisters to him and several nieces and nephews as well as his friends.
He was predeceased by his brothers Victoriano Endaya Jr and Celerino Endaya and his sister Gertrudes Endaya.
The services will be at Swan Funeral Home at 122 Boston Post Road, Old Saybrook for family 9:00am to 10:30am. A Christian mass and burial will be held on 11:00 at St. Mark's Church at 222 McVeagh Road, Westbrook followed by burial at Resurrection Cemetery.
