Born in Hartford to the late Sebastiano and Anna Coniglione, Angela attended Hartford public schools, and was a proud graduate of the Weaver High School Class of 1946. While a student there she caught the eye of a skinny kid named George Dandurand. They married after his service in the Army in Japan during the Occupation, and they went on to have a 50+ year life together.
They made their home for over thirty years in East Hartford, which is where they raised their family. Then in 1987 they retired to Old Saybrook and they were able to enjoy living full time in the town in which they had long been summer residents. After George’s passing in 1999, Angela devoted more time to painting, which had always been a passion of hers, becoming active in the local art community. She had paintings displayed in several local shops and art shows, and they adorn the walls of many friends and family members.
In recent years her world became smaller as she became less mobile, but she loved reminiscing about good times with family and friends, and had an encyclopedic memory for the stars of Hollywood’s Golden Age. One of her fondest memories was of being taken by her grandfather, at about age 4, to see the late Jean Harlow on stage in New York. She was an only child, but was raised in a family full of adoring aunts, uncles and grandparents.
Angela leaves behind two daughters, Debra (Michael) Conte of Epping, NH, and Leslee Kachadoorian of Old Saybrook and former son-in-law Levon Kachadoorian of Leicester, MA. She also leaves grandchildren Stephen (Anne) Ciccalone of Glastonbury, David (Lindsey) Ciccalone of North Hampton, NH, Arianna Kachadoorian Phillippi of Worcester, MA, Nishon Kachadoorian and his partner, Julienne Pearson, of Rutland, MA, and nine great-grandchildren, all of whom will miss her very much.
Calling hours will be October 29 from 9:30 -11:30 at Swan Funeral Home in Old Saybrook, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. John Church on Main Street in Old Saybrook. Burial will take place after the Mass at Riverside Cemetery, 59 Sheffield Street, Old Saybrook. In accordance with Angela’s wishes, she and George will be interred together.
