Asmina Bonniksen Bedell
April 10, 1931 – March 7, 2018
Asmina “Mina” Bonniksen Bedell, 86, beloved wife of Roger Bedell of Old Saybrook, passed away on Wednesday March 7, 2018 at CT Hospice in Branford after a long illness. Born in West Hartford, CT on April 10, 1931, she was the daughter of Asmus and Rose Oppelt Bonniksen.
Mina was employed by Cheeseborough Ponds office in Clinton, where she met her husband, and various nursing homes.
She enjoyed being a homemaker most of all, caring for her daughter, grandchildren, husband, parents, Aunt Grace, mother-in-law Helen, and her many pets. She liked walking her dogs, loving her cats, visiting tag sales and thrift shops, reading religious books, and gardening.
Besides her husband Roger of 59.5 years, she is survived by her daughter Rogina Bedell-O’Brien and her husband Michael of Old Saybrook; two young granddaughters, Grace and Katie O’Brien and many nieces and nephews including a very special niece Sherry of Maryland. Mina was predeceased by her parents and her beloved Aunt Grace Oppelt and five sisters; Dorothy Searles, Rose Baribeault, Florence Ohlswager, infant Asmina Elizabeth Bonniksen and toddler Maria Bonniksen.

A closed casket Christian funeral service was held on Wednesday March 14 at 12:00 p.m. at Swan Funeral Home in Clinton, CT, followed by a short graveside burial service at Indian River Cemetery on Cemetery Rd. Clinton, CT.
