

Shiller- Betty Ruth Shiller died Monday Sept. 17, 2012 at her home. She was the only child of the late John S. Price, and Winnie Price of Jacksboro and Garland Texas, and later, Houston Texas. She completed high school in Houston, and then attended Rice University in the premed program. She married William R. Shiller in 1954 and served as a Navy wife in many duty stations, the last being at the Submarine base in Groton Connecticut. She was active in the Gales Ferry United Methodist Church serving as a Sunday school teacher. She also worked as the office manager in her husband’s dental practice. Later she attended Connecticut College graduating cum laude with a degree in sociology. She then worked and lived in Old Saybrook, Connecticut the last 30 years of her life enjoying her children, grandchildren and friends. She was active in the First Congregational Church of Old Saybrook serving as a deacon. She is survived by her three children and their spouses: Marcella and Tim Ruland of Columbia Maryland, Phyllis and Clark Farley of Hope Valley Rhode Island, and Stephen and Kelly Shiller of Littleton Colorado. She also leaves her 2 grandchildren Dustin and Melanie Shiller of Littleton, Colorado. A Memorial Service to celebrate her life will be held on Saturday Sept. 22, 2012 at the Swan Funeral Home 1224 Boston Post Road Old Saybrook at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers memorial donations in her name may be made to Middlesex Hospice Homecare 28 Crescent Street Middletown, CT 06457.
