Carmel H. Laverty

Carmel H. Laverty, age 84 of Westbrook, passed away Sunday February 17, 2013 at Middlesex Hospital. Beloved wife of the late Carleton R. Laverty. She was born in Portland ME. on December 27, 1928 to the late Benjamin and Anna Peterson. Mrs. Laverty was a kindergarten teacher for 37 years for the Old Saybrook School System, she will be greatly missed.

She is survived by her two sons, Adam Laverty and his wife Kathy of Old Saybrook, David Laverty and his wife Meg of Stratham N.H. and a daughter Celise Murphy and her husband Curtis of Lisbon Falls, ME. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Rory and her husband Mike Pinaud, Amy Laverty and her loving partner Bill Claffey, Colin, Bredan and Molly Laverty. Carmel especially loved being a great grandmother to Harriett and Wyatt Pinaud, always adoring her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Her years of teaching and in retirement she is remembered fondly by former students and her dear friends in their weekly phase ten card games. She will be missed by all she touched.
