

Dorothy Loftus Houlihan, 79, of Old Saybrook, CT, passed away Saturday, December 8th, 2012, with her family by her side. Daughter of James and Mary (Hart) Loftus of Bronx, NY, she is survived by her children, Eileen of Old Saybrook, Denis of Oakdale, CT, Margaret of Old Saybrook, Sheila and her husband Andrew Wizner of Wethersfield, CT, and Cathy and her partner Thomas Campbell of Marietta, GA; her grandchildren, Amanda Spada of South Windham, CT, and Sarah, Eamon and Eliza Wizner of Wethersfield; five sisters-in-law and numerous nieces and nephews living in New Jersey, Ireland and England. Dorothy graduated from Fordham University with a degree in Pharmacy and owned Flanders’ Pharmacy from 1973 until 1995. She was an avid fan of UConn women’s basketball, and she thoroughly enjoyed attending UConn games in the company of her granddaughter Amanda and Amanda’s boyfriend, Bryan Wunsch. For the past five years, she volunteered at the Estuary Council of Seniors in Old Saybrook where she will be greatly missed. Dorothy was predeceased by her husband, Timothy, formerly of County Kerry, Ireland, her daughter, Noreen, and her brother, James Loftus of Clifton, NJ.
The funeral will be Saturday, December 15, 2012, at 11:30 AM at St. John’s Catholic Church in Old Saybrook, followed by a private burial at Resurrection Cemetery in Westbrook. Visiting hours will be Friday, December 14, 2012, at Swan Funeral Home in Old Saybrook from 5:00-8:00 PM.
