December 13, 1939May 16, 2020

Wakefield, RI — With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Elisa Hundt on Saturday May 16, 2020. She was born on December 13, 1939 in Bronx, NY, to Anna and Louis Carnavale. She is survived by her husband Michael, sons Christopher (Melissa) and Matthew (Wendy), daughter Louise Anne, 8 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren, and her brother, Mario Carnevale. She was predeceased by her daughter Patricia Hundt. A Registered Nurse, Elisa began a lifetime career of caring for others at the local hospital, while raising her four children. She continued her career in hospital settings, rehabilitation, furthered her study of psychology and worked with populations in prisons, including Whiting Forensic Hospital and York Correctional Prison, and as a visiting nurse. Her nursing career was cut short by Chronic Lyme Disease. A creative person, she enjoyed her pottery wheel and kiln. A knitter from an early age, Elisa made numerous sweaters for family, taught knitting, and after retiring to Block Island selling her gorgeous sweaters, blankets and shawls. She also raised orchids to enjoy and share. Upon retiring to Block Island, a place she loved from her first visit, she managed the E&M B&B. Learning from her Italian mother and grandmother, she became a superb cook and shared her love of cooking with family, friends, church, and social groups. Her home always was full of a bouquet of aromas. She was involved in establishing and running the Helping Hands Food Pantry on Block Island until 2018. A loving wife, mother, and grandmother, she will be missed by all those who knew her. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to Native American Indian Reservations, The Helping Hands Food Pantry on Block Island or the charity of your choice. The family is planning a celebration of life at a later date. Please visit for tributes and updated service information.

I am very sorry to hear of Mrs. Hundt’s passing, especially a year after it happened. The Hundt family home on Whippletree Lane was a refuge for me,as my own home was a bit of a horror show.Mrs. Hundt I think understood this, and I was always welcome there. Her cooking was wonderful, her patience appreciated, and she had a pleasant laugh.I am glad I got to know her when she was here in Old Lyme,as she made my life much better. The world has lost a very kind and patient soul.

Mike and family,
We were saddened to learn of Lisa's passing. Please accept our sincere condolences .
All day Min and I have been reminiscing of the many good times that we had with you and Lisa. We talked about our many cookouts that we had at our house and at yours-at Woodland Rd, Montville, Waterford and Old Lyme, and later at Block Island. And how we enjoyed your children playing with ours.
May you and your children enjoy life as much as Lisa did.

Dear Mike: I am so sad to read about Elisa. I have wonderful memories of scrumptious meals with you both on Block and always think of you when I see and buy the "Angel" wine Elise introduced me to. What a beautiful and loving soul and I feel so blessed to have known her. Love and blessings to you. God Bless. Sarah
