He was born on July 4, 1939, in Italy, the son of Michelangelo Falivene and Giussipina Fiore.
Guido loved work, good food, fancy cars and his family. He came to the United States in the early 60's. He spoke little English and had even less money. His intent was to work for a year and return home. Instead, he met a beautiful Irish girl named Nancy Florence O'Brien. Together they raised three children, ran a masonry business and a restaurant. The last few years were incredibly difficult for Guido. He fought through many medical setbacks, astonishing his doctors with his incredible will to heal and live. He will be remembered for his talent, strength and triumphant spirit. He spent his last days surrounded by family. He will be waiting on the other side for all of us, with a smile and a big bowl of pasta.
He was the widower of Nancy O'Brien Falivene who died in 1994.
Mr. Falivene is survived by his children Tina Falivene (Dan Shapiro) of Westbrook, Elena Cook (Richard Mosher) of New Haven, and Guido Falivene, Jr., of Westbrook; grandchildren Richard Adam Mosher, Hayley Cook, Juliana and Christopher Perrotti, Samantha Cook, and Sierra Johnson, and his great grandsons Damian Sevieri, and Gabriel Montiel.
Calling hours will be held on Monday June 19th from 5-7pm at Swan Funeral Home, 1224 Boston Post Rd., Old Saybrook. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday at 2pm in St. Mark Church, McVeagh Rd., Westbrook. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery, Westbrook.
