
CASEY, Helen Hoffman Helen Hoffman Casey passed away on October 28, 2010 after a short illness. She was born in Albany, New York on June 13, 1927 the daughter of Anne and Carl Frederick Hoffman. She was the widow of John R. Casey who she was married to on September 18, 1954. Mrs. Casey was a graduate of Cornell University class of 1949 with a degree in English. She pursued further studies post graduation at Katherine Gibbs School in Boston Mass. She briefly worked for the Central Intelligence Agency in Washington, DC and the State of New York in Albany. She was formerly a member of the Junior League, a Board Member of the Estuary Council, and member of the Essex Catholic Women's Group, the Essex Women's Club, and the Cornell Alumni Association. She is survived by her children John ("Jay") Casey and his wife Pam of Indiatlantic, FL, Brendan and his wife Sue of Webster, NY and Camila ("Cami") Gordon and her husband Mark of Westerly RI. She was a proud grandmother of eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Visiting hours will be from 4-7 p.m. Friday (November 5, 2010) at Swan Funeral Home 1224 Boston Post Rd, Old Saybrook, CT. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Saturday (November 6, 2010) at 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Sorrows Church, 14 Prospect St., Essex, CT. Friends are asked to go directly to church for the funeral mass. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Old Saybrook. Memorial contributions may be made to Our Lady of Sorrows Church.
