Helen P Fiorelli

Helen (Patterson) Fiorelli, 94, wife of Louis F. Fiorelli Sr. passed away peacefully on March 14, 2013 in hospice care at Middlesex Memorial Hospital in Middletown, CT.

Helen was born in Maytown, PA on August 2, 1918, the daughter of Rosier and Susan Patterson. She was the eldest of four children. She enlisted in the Women’s Army Corps in 1942 at Harrisburg, PA and served for 18 months before her honorable discharge. While serving her country Helen met “Lou,” her beloved husband of 68 years.

Besides her husband, Helen is survived by her children and their spouses: Louis Fiorelli Jr. (Skip) and his wife Rosemary of Essex, CT; Patricia Fiorelli and her husband John Newton of Newburyport, MA; and Mary Fiorelli and her husband Dennis Doherty of Mystic, CT. She also leaves her four grandchildren and their spouses, Greg and Kim Fiorelli, Michael and Dawn Fiorelli, Laura Ferraguto and Daniel Carr and Katharine Ferraguto, as well as three great-grandchildren, Jack, Katie and Erin Fiorelli.

Her family will receive relatives and friends from 9am to 10:30 on March 20, at the Swan Funeral Home, 1224 Boston Post Rd., Old Saybrook, CT 06475. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11am at St. John Church Roman Catholic Church, 161 Main St. in Old Saybrook. Burial with presentation of military honors will follow at Riverside Cemetery on Sheffield St., Old Saybrook.
