Joan was born September 30th 1932 in Meriden CT to the late Harry Forster and Julia Forster. Joan is predeceased by her husband Joseph Gosselin, and her two sons Lucien Gosselin and Raymond Gosselin. A 1950 graduate of Meriden High School, Joan spent her years following high school working as a secretary, and enjoying her time off roller blading and dancing. She married Joseph Gosselin on July 4th 1959, and the couple moved to Westbrook, CT in 1964 and had two children: Lucien and Raymond. Following their births, Joan worked as an assistant tax collector for the town of Westbrook – a job she always took great pride in. Afterwards she lived briefly in South Carolina and Florida and frequently visited Anna Marie Island. She was a devout Roman Catholic throughout her life and acted in ways truly befitting her faith; she loved everyone no matter the circumstances of their life or birth, and never judged them for believing differently from herself. She loved her family dearly and was always thrilled to see her children, and eventual grandchildren, slowly grow and live out their lives. Joan was also a fantastic baker and chef, and regularly shared her creations with friends and family alike – her apple pie was always a crowd-pleaser. When not with family, she loved bingo, books, golf, and shopping.
She is survived by her grandchildren: Sophia Gosselin (Africa McLeod) of Hartford CT, Dylan Gosselin of New Haven CT, Ryan Gosselin (Morgan Robinson-Gosselin) of Sandwich MA, and
Rachel Gosselin of Portland OR; her daughter-in-law Kellie Gosselin (Eric Peterson) of Sandwich MA; her sister-in-law Kay Brain of Old Saybrook CT; and her nieces Terri Ashton (Clifford) of Niantic
CT, and Gail Salafia (Joseph) of Haddam CT.
Funeral service Saturday, April 25th at 11am, St. Mark Catholic Church, Westbrook, CT.
