

Joseph J. Polidori, passed away peacefully at Scalabrini Villa in North Kingston, RI on Wednesday, January 7, 2015. He is survived by his wife Margaret (Garstka) Polidori. In November 2014, they celebrated 74 years of marriage. Joseph was born in Hartford on July 11, 1918, son of the late Vincenza and Antoinette (Puzzi) Polidori. He grew up in New Britain and later worked with his brothers in the Charles Polidori Construction Co. He subsequently worked as a Company Foreman for Tomasso Brothers in New Britain. Joe and Margaret resided in New Britain until 1981 at which time they moved to Old Saybrook. Joe was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Fr. Hussion Council 2968. He was a member of the Marchegian Club of New Britain and a lifetime member of the Elks Club. He especially loved playing golf during his retirement years in Old Saybrook. In addition to his wife, Joseph is survived by his son Richard Polidori of Boca Raton, FL; his daughter JoAnn (Walter) Wilks of East Greenwich, RI; and brother John Polidori of New Britain. He also leaves behind six grandchildren: Shawn (Susan) Wilks of Warwick, RI; Jennifer Wilks of East Greenwich, RI; Colleen Wilks of Providence, RI; Carrie (Michael) McCarthy of Washington, DC; Nicole Polidori (Michael) Kelly of Stonington; and Alexandria (Jeremy) Bourgeois of Sharon, MA.; and fourteen great-grandchildren: Megan, Matthew, and Madeline; Benjamin, Jacob, and Lauren; Clara, Willa, and Alma; Sydney, Dylan, and Liam; Lillian and Ava. He leaves nephews Donald Polidori and Robert Polidori and nieces Kathy Gilbert and Susan Bordonaro and daughter-in-law Judith Polidori. Joe was predeceased by brothers Delmo Polidori and Charles Polidori.Visitation will be held at the Swan Funeral Home, 1224 Boston Post Road, Old Saybrook on Mon 1/12 from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. at St. John Church, 161 Main Street, Old Saybrook. Burial will follow at Resurrection Cemetery, Route 145, Westbrook.
