

Kenneth Gilbert Lafleur, 55, passed away peacefully on April 8, 2013 at Middlesex Hospice. He was born in Chicopee, MA on May 9, 1957 to Albert and Phyllis (Stokowski) Lafleur. In 1967 his family moved to Point O Woods beach in South Lyme, CT. He graduated from Old Lyme high school in 1975. Ken was a hardworking, conscientious man and he worked as a letter carrier for the Old Saybrook Post Office for 35 years. He was happiest outdoors either hiking, working on lawns, gardening or when he was in the kitchen cooking and inventing his own recipes. In April 2012, weeks before his retirement, he was diagnosed with a rare, incurable form of cancer. He faced his disease with strength and courage. His family and loved ones deeply mourn his loss. He leaves behind his parents, Albert and Phyllis Lafleur of Berlin, CT and Venice FL, his children, of which he was so very proud, Ryan Lafleur, Fiancé Liz House of New Britain, Sarah Lafleur of Old Saybrook and Jason Lafleur, girlfriend Paige Shelto of Centerbrook, and his cherished grandson Kaleb Lafleur. He was a beloved brother to Bruce Lafleur, wife Patti of Glendale, AZ and Deborah Tencza, husband Chuck of Berlin. A special uncle to Kevin Lafleur, wife Alicia, their son Colby of Seymour, Matthew Lafleur, wife Kelly, their daughter Avery of Richmond VA, Brian Lafleur, companion Melanie, their daughter Mattilyn of Midlothian, VA and Catherine Tencza of Berlin. Ken will be deeply missed by his fiancé and soul mate Deborah Eichler of Killingworth. He was predeceased by his grandparents Leon and Alphonsine Lafleur, Adam and Stella Stokowski and many special aunts and uncles. His family wishes to thank the caring professionals at the Middlesex Hospice for their wonderful support and compassion at this difficult time.
