

away peacefully on Friday, December 10th at his home with his dog Daisy by his side. Ken was
born on April 3, 1953 in Middletown, CT to the late William R. Reid and June “Jackie” Rouse
Reid of Old Saybrook.
Chief Reid’s professional career was in the Criminal Justice field as well as Private and
Corporate Security. He served as a member of the Clinton, CT Police Department, Chief of
Police in the Town of Chester, CT, a K-9 Narcotics Handler, Community Service Officer for the
Old Saybrook Police Department and as Vice Chairman for the Old Saybrook Police
Commission. He also served as Director of Security at Lawrence and Memorial Hospital. He
was Trustee for the Old Saybrook Historical Society, Member of the Elks club and a member of
the Antique Police Vehicle Association. Chief Reid was a lifelong collector of Law Enforcement
Memorabilia as well as the beloved “Coca Cola” brand. He loved to travel with his wife Nicole,
collecting memorabilia and playing the drums with his band.
He is survived by his 2 sons: Kenneth Reid Jr. and his wife Lefkothea Reid along with his
grandsons Nikolas, Alexander & Lukas Reid of Old Lyme, CT, Christopher J. Reid and his wife
Leslie Reid, granddaughter Riley June, and youngest grandson Owen Reid of Old Saybrook,
CT. as well as their mother and friend Ginny Reid of Old Saybrook.
In addition to his wife, Nicole he is survived by her children Maxwell 28, Daniel 26, Nicholas 17,
and Andrew 16, Spaargaren which he shared the honor of raising.
His brother Charles W. Reid and his wife Janice Reid of Deep River, niece Karen Reid Hartt and
her husband Ryan L Hartt and their children Elizabeth, Julie, and McKinley Hartt of Deep River.
His Aunt Betty Ann Reid Butler and Jordan Butler of Old Saybrook as well as his beloved
cousins and extended family members. He is predeceased by many special aunts and uncles
as well as his niece Tracey Reid McCarthy.
Visiting hours will be held Friday, December 17th from 4-7pm at Swan Funeral Home in Old
Saybrook.
