Born in New London, Connecticut, Lenny was raised in Ivoryton before making his home in Old Saybrook after marrying the love of his life, Karen. Together they shared 46 wonderful years of marriage, building a life centered on family, friendship, and the things they loved most.
Lenny is survived by his devoted wife, Karen; his daughters, Heather Jacobs (Wesley) and Krista Danko (Andrew); his sister, Marcia Harris (Raymond); his grandchildren Leah Jacobs, Connor Jacobs, and Adrian Danko, who affectionately called him Poppy; a niece and several nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Dorothy and Clarmont Borkowski.
Lenny worked in sheet metal fabrication throughout his career, employed by Champion Tool and Die Manufacturing and then Sound Manufacturing. He was known for his strong work ethic, craftsmanship, and dedication.
Outside of work, Lenny embraced life on the water on his beloved Fin-Addict. He loved fishing, boating, and spending time with the close-knit boating community that became an extended family. His lifelong friends affectionately bestowed upon him the honorary title of “Commodore” of the unofficial FCYC.
Lenny also had a lifelong passion for cars and racing. He was involved with the Bob Johnson Racing Team at Connecticut Dragway and other various racing venues throughout New England. He enjoyed following NHRA racing and watching it on TV, even traveling several times to watch the Nationals.
To know Lenny meant you know he was full of life, had an amazing sense of humor, and never turned down a dare. To honor him best, a celebration of life will be held at the Elk’s Lodge on Seaside Avenue in Westbrook on July 16, 2026 at 12pm. Lenny never liked dressing up so please come casual with stories and memories to share.
Burial will be private at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Lenny’s memory to the Old Saybrook Ambulance Association, 316 Main Street, Old Saybrook, CT 06475 or a charity of your choice.
