Lynn Niero Bohlke, long time resident of Old Saybrook, passed away on Thursday, April 29, 2021. Born on January 3, 1944 in Englewood, New Jersey, Lynn was the daughter of the late Theodore G. Niero and Elizabeth (Frosco) Niero. Lynn attended Trenton State College, earning a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education and Library Science. Lynn first taught elementary school in Ramapo, NY and then continued as a substitute teacher for many years in the Old Saybrook and Westbrook Public Schools while raising her family. She was also a long time librarian at the Acton Public Library in Old Saybrook. In 1966 Lynn married the love of her life, her husband Wesley K. Bohlke. Lynn will be remembered for her love of books, history, politics, trips to Maine and her faith. She was a loyal parishioner of St. John’s Catholic Church in Old Saybrook where she taught kindergarten religious education for many years. Above all else, Lynn found her joy in spending time with family and friends, especially her cherished grandchildren.

She will be greatly missed by her devoted husband of 55 years, Wesley (Toby) and her children Tom Bohlke (Lara) of Newington, CT; Karen Naccarato (Vincent) of Westbrook, CT; and Joan Kaijala (Timothy) of Cumberland Center, Maine. Lynn is survived by her seven grandchildren, Andrew, Vincent, Joseph, Michael, Katherine, Theodore, and Kai Lynn; and two sisters: Cynthia Prusiecki of Palatine, IL and Gail Bohlke of Nyack, NY.

Calling hours will be held on Friday, May 7th from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Swan Funeral Home, located at 1224 Boston Post Rd, Old Saybrook, CT. A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, May 8th at 1:00 p.m. at St. John’s Catholic Church, located at 161 Main St, Old Saybrook, CT. A burial at Cypress Cemetery, located on College St, Old Saybrook, CT will immediately follow. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Friends of Acton Public Library, 60 Old Boston Post Road, Old Saybrook, CT 06475.
