Marian (Seaman) Feeney, age 76, of Chester passed away on February 2, 2014, at Chesterfield Convalescent Home in Chester after a long illness. She was born on June 19,1937, in Wyoming, New York, daughter of the late William and Francis (Milligan) Seaman.
She is survived by her husband, Gerard Feeney. Besides her beloved husband of 44 years she is survived by many cousins and a large extended family.
Marian earned a Masters of Science Degree and completed coursework for her PHD at UMASS Amherst. She was an Associate Professor of Environment and Natural Resource Economics at the University of Rhode Island in Kingston, RI. Marian received statewide recognition for her many hours of networking with and encouraging women to further their knowledge and ability to become effective individuals in their home, community and workplace through the Family Community Leadership Program. She was always eager to share her experiences knowledge and resource materials. Many have benefited from her insights and inspiration. Marian also lent her leadership skills to multiple organizations, notably the Mystic woman's group, Chester Village West, and Cooperative Extension program.
Family and friends may visit the Swan Funeral Home 1224 Boston Post Road, Old Saybrook, Friday, February 7, 2014 from 4-7 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, February 8, 2014 at 10:30 am at St Joseph Church, Chester, CT. Internment will follow at St Joseph Cemetery.
