

Edith Marjorie (Leedham) Drager, 95, passed away peacefully at 7pm, Friday, May 5, 2023 with her husband by her side. Called Manny by all her relatives, she grew up in Nova Scotia Canada. She was the 4th child of Wilbert Leedham and Pearl (Mabee) Leedham, both deceased.
Marjorie grew up in Windsor Junction, Nova Scotia and moved to Clinton, CT in 1954 to work with her mother to run the Leedham's Ladies and Children’s Wear store and Clinton Convalescing Home for 5 years.
She married Dr. Lloyd D. Drager Jr. in 1961 and lived in Ivoryton, CT. She and Lloyd moved to Old Saybrook in 1965 where she ran the Small Talk Shop on US Route 1 for 35 years.
Marjorie (Manny) was the mother of four boys, Richard F. Roome (died in 1979), Eric Andrew Drager (died in 2017) and twins, Douglas (Doug) and Daniel (Dan) Drager.
After closing her business due to the widening of US Route 1 (Boston Post Road) she then worked for Dress Barn for 20 years. Marjorie enjoyed her life with her sons and going on many trips to Canada in the motorhome. She loved working in the yard, the garden, and visiting friends and neighbors.
She was a member of the Amaranth for 30 years, being Royal Matron of Chatham Court, and also belonged to Harmony Court #12, and Rainbow Court #10. She enjoyed attending many Masonic Functions through the state of Connecticut, New York, Pennsylvania, Indiana, and Massachusetts.
She enjoyed the small town atmosphere of Old Saybrook, the beach, the long walks around town, and the parades, shopping, church, and the feeling of coming home. Marjorie loved life, even though it was hard at times.
She leaves behind her husband of 62 years, Dr. Lloyd D. Drager Jr., Doctor of Veterinary Medicine, Philip Daniel (Dan) Drager of Pennsylvania, granddaughter Olivia Marie Drager of Pennsylvania and Lloyd Douglas (Doug) Drager of Higganum. She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews in Canada, whom she enjoyed visiting many times (She was a Nova Scotian through and through).
She was predeceased by her brothers, Kenneth Leedham and Sgt. Donald Leedham of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) and a sister, Ruby Leedham Fowler.
Calling hours will be held on Friday, May 12, from 6pm until 8pm at Swan Funeral Home located at 1224 Boston Post Rd, Old Saybrook. A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, May 13, at 11am at Grace Episcopal Church located at 336 Main St, Old Saybrook. Interment will take place at Riverside Cemetery immediately following Mass.
