

Mary Jane DeVito, 96, of Old Saybrook passed away peacefully on Sunday (June 3, 2012) at Mystic Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Mystic, CT. She was born in Hartford and was the beloved wife of the late Anthony P. DeVito. She was the beloved daughter of the late Francesco and Maria (Leroy) Laraia. Mary Jane worked for many years for Travelers Insurance Company until her retirement in 1977. She greatly enjoyed her family and relished the good times and family events at the shoreline. She is survived by her son, Pasquale J. DeVito and his wife, Patricia of Portsmouth, NH; a daughter Melissa L. Alekna and her husband Christopher of Richmond, RI; and a son, Jeffery P. DeVito of Warwick, RI. She is also survived by two sisters, Carmella Leva of West Hartford, and Ann Ruggiero and her husband Joseph of East Hartford; a brother, Frank Laraia and his wife Rena of Wethersfield; a brother-in-law, Rocco Silvestri of Niantic; a sister-in-law Traudel Laraia of Old Saybrook. She was predeceased by sisters Triestina Silvestri, Leonara Laraia and Rochina Erardi and a brother, John B. Laraia.
Family and friends may visit the Swan Funeral Home, 1224 Boston Post Rd. Old Saybrook Thursday June 7, from 9 to 10:30 a.m., with a mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at St. John Church in Old Saybrook. Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery in Westbrook.
