

She was born on May 14, 1939, in Columbus, OH, the daughter of John Lindsay Tipton and Mary Stuart Tipton.
She was the widow of Marvin Grant Tracy. She and Marvin were both active members of the St Ann’s Church in Old Lyme.
Mrs. Tracy earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts at the Ohio University and began her art career as a primary school art teacher in her native Ohio. While raising a family in New York she resumed her art career and later relocated to southern Connecticut where she founded the Tracy Art Center in Old Saybrook, CT.
Nancy continued to improve her techniques and creativity, and studied art with with other local teachers and some notable artists, furthering her studies at the Lyme Academy of Fine Art and Rhode Island School of Design. She belonged to the Clinton Art Society, the Madison Art Society, Gallery One in Old Saybrook, and the Maple and Main in Chester. Nancy was an accomplished artist in many mediums. Her work embraces portraiture, still life, landscape and abstract fine art, and employed many different mediums, including water colors, oils, pastels and scratch board. Her work has been shown throughout the Northeast and is in many private and corporate collections. She was a member of the American Society of Portrait Artists, and an elected member of the New England Watercolor Society as well as a founding member of Old Saybrook Artist Associates, a member Old Lyme Art Association and an instructor for Elderhostels at Camp Incarnation, Ivoryton, CT.
Mrs. Tracy is survived by her children Amy Tracy-Sagendorph and her husband Paul of Brookfield, MA, Allison Papa and her husband Joseph of Narragansett, RI, and Stephen Tracy and his wife Katie of Lewis Center, OH; her grandchildren Stuart and Ian Cunningham, Kelly, Nathan,and Mitchell Tracy. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her sisters Alice Tipton Kepley and Mary Lynn Conrad.
Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, October 29th at from 5-7pm at Swan Funeral Home, 1224 Boston Post Rd., Old Saybrook. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, October 30th at 11am in St. Ann's Episcopal Church, 82 Shore Rd., Old Lyme.
