Bob was born in Malden, Massachusetts to Robert & Louise (Petrie) Pinette on March 16, 1952. Bob attended Malden schools prior to enlisting in the United States Marine Corps. Upon his return to civilian life, Bob explored several career opportunities, but after meeting his future wife, Karen Bradley, his path turned toward a long career in Customer Relations with companies including Xerox Corporation and Pitney Bowes.
Bob enjoyed woodworking and became quite accomplished – he’d make a dining room table, a bookshelf, a stereo cabinet and with Karen by his side encouraging him, he completed (with help from friends) the unfinished second floor of their first home. He shared his knowledge and other talents with all who would listen! Bob was also a prolific letter writer, always taking the time to write a thank you note.
He is survived by his wife Karen of 41 years and his beloved son James. Bob touched many lives in his personal and business life – he will be sorely missed by his family and lifelong friends. As his brother, comedian John Pinette, who predeceased him, might say “You Go Now” but his family and friends “Say Nay Nay” because it was too soon – we wanted more time with Bob as a husband, a father, a friend and above all a gentleman.
Calling hours will be on Thursday, April 18, 2019 from 11am-1pm at Swan Funeral Home, 1224 Boston Post Road, Old Saybrook. Memorial donations may be made to the James B. Pinette Donation Fund at Liberty Bank, 90 Main Street, Old Saybrook, CT 06475 or the Westbrook Ambulance Association, 1316 Boston Post Road, Westbrook, CT 06498.
