It is good to know that Wayne is back at the Log. I'm sure he was impressed with the flotilla of boats that escorted him back to his Truman's Beach. It was an awesome experience just like the man himself.

I hope people will post their pictures here for all to enjoy. I can't beleive my camera stayed on shore!!

Karen my thoughts and prayers are with you and the family. It has been 30 years since I last spent any time with Wayne but they are memories that I will never forget. I had a great time with Wayne every time we got together from the first time I caught a Blue Fish and it was flopping aroung in the boat to the time we cut wood for winter for his fireplace and my wood stove. Just can't believe that Wayne will not be there the next time I get a chance to visit CT.

Hi Karen, My sister Pege told me of Wayne's passing. Although we no longer live in Ct. I did have the opportunity and the good fortune to run into Wayne these summers at the gas stations etc. I can't tell you how many times I would love to tell people stories about Wayne and his Sportcraft.  That boat and Wayne belong in the Guinness Book for records.  A Timex watch or the Energizer Bunny could not compete with Wayne and his boat. Or Best to you and your family. Karen and family, Wayne was an important part of many lives in the area.  He has given so many people happiness and a better quality to their lives, just by being honored to be called his 'friend'.  His concern for others was endearing.  It is obvious that he was needed elsewhere to care and make others happy. He will be missed by many.

However, With much teasing from Dock 3 we went with you on your boat and what a time we had along with our friends from Dock 3 who joined us.  It was a trip to the log that we will never forget. What can we say? Summer in general will never be the same.  We have so many great memories of Wayne.  I think I'm still black and blue from catching my first bluefish with you guys 30 yrs ago! I knew Wayne from working at CL&P in East Hampton. He made a lasting impression on me the first time I met him in 1990, and I smile and laugh everytime I think of him. My condolences to the Wilson family.

Where does one start when it comes to reflecting on Wayne and all that goes along with him? Is it sitting on “the log” on a hot summer day sipping wine, swimming and maybe clamming if the tide was right? Counting trucks that were crossing the Baldwin Bridge or speculating who that dot was on the horizon and how long it would take them to get here. Maybe it should be the yelling, laughing and swearing at any bluefish dumb enough to dare swim under his boat. In any event, time spent with Wayne was fun and magical and has provided me with so many memories which will always be cherished and never forgotten. I feel fortunate to have been able to call him a friend.

My sincere condolences to the Wilson family. I knew Wayne through work and he could always put a smile on my face and always had a joke to tell. God Bless you Wayne.

To the Wilson family:
I met Wayne in the Emergency department after a tree fell on him and broke his pelvis. He was upbeat even then. I ended up replacing both of his hips, and with his pain gone, he became the oldest fun loving teenager i have ever met. He took my kids fishing (see photo). I am away from CT this week and will miss his memorial, but Wayne was a role model to me and any who were fortunate enough to know him.  He knew what was important in life.
We all mourn his passing, but to honor him, i celebrate his life.

Karen & Family, my prayers are for you. To me, Wayne was a "summertime friend" in Westbrook, where my family had a summer residence. Wayne loved the ocean and many of us spent time on his boat, learning to ski from the "master". His smile will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

So very sorry to hear of Wayne passing. He was so pleasant, always smiling and laughing. Pilots Point Marina will never be same without him.

Sorry to hear of Wayne passing. My dad and I fished next to him in the sound for many years. He was always fun to fish with. My dad Alan who passed in 2004 called Wayne "The Master" refering to his expertise fishing the sound. He will be missed by his friends and family.

I was sad to hear of Wayne's passing, I grew up with Wayne and his family,as a kid he was fun loving and funny, it never left him as an adult, he used to come into Elgart and Pinns to have his eyes checked and alway, always had a joke to tell and we would talk of the "old days".  He was a great guy.  I don't think I know Wayne's wife and family, but my thoughts and prayers are with you and to Gail, Deidre, Roger and Quintin if you are all still with us.
