

Ronald Dangona, 79, of Old Saybrook, CT died on July 3 at Smilow Cancer Hospital at Yale New Haven. Ron was born on August 18, 1946 in Hartford, CT to Anthony and Margaret Rucci Dangona. He lived in Hartford and Newington, attended local schools and graduated from Newington High School Class of 1964. Upon graduation, Ron entered the US Air Force and served in the Vietnam War from 1964 to 1968. In 1979, he reenlisted in military service and served in the US Army until 1985. Upon his return to Connecticut, he was employed with the United States Postal Service until his retirement in 2007 when he moved to Old Saybrook.
Ron leaves his wife of 31 years Catherine (Cathy), his sister Patricia Lanza of Columbia CT, his son Stephen Dangona of Middletown, a niece Gail Lanza and her family of Mansfield, and his step-children, Betsy Boyd of Wells, ME and Rob Edwards of Plymouth MA. “Papa Ron” also leaves three grandchildren - Madeleine, Ian and Jack in addition to his aunts, cousins and many friends.
Swan Funeral Home, 1224 Boston Post Rd (Rt. 1) Old Saybrook is in charge of funeral arrangements. Calling hours are Friday, July 10 from 10:30 AM to 12 Noon with a service at the funeral home at 12 Noon followed by burial in Riverside Cemetery, 59 Sheffield St., Old Saybrook.
